Tile and grout have been a popular building material in homes for hundreds of years.  The variety in colors and textures insures that tile will be around for a long time to come.  Often the grout (the mortar between the tiles) has not been sealed properly and eventually absorbs water and dirt, leading to mold and mildew.  When this happens, it’s time to call Appleby.  We’ll clean and seal your tile and bring back the beauty from years of wear.  We’ll clean your grout with a high-pressure system designed to remove dirt from deep within the grout.  We’ll do minor grout repair and replace caulking as needed.  Once sealed, your tile will look better longer, and water and dirt will be repelled from the grout lines, making your tile and grout beautiful and your life easier.

Sealers

Many people have questions about sealers.  What are they, and what do they really do?  There are basically two types of sealers: Impregnating sealers and Topical sealers.  Impregnating sealers soak into the capillaries (little tiny holes) of the stone or grout and coat them so that water, dirt and other substances cannot stick.  Topical sealers remain on the top surface of the material, and are often used on Mexican Pavers and slate.  Topical sealers are generally not recommended for exterior use. 
We use top quality sealers, both water-based and alcohol-based and apply them under strict guidelines from the manufacturer.  We give you information and options so that you can choose the sealer that is best suited for your specific needs.
